What do you want that stirs your heart? You might say, “Nothing. I am contented.” Contentment is good. But you can have contentment with a fiery passion.
To want nothing at all means you cannot be manipulated, but it also means you cannot be motivated.
To want is not a bad thing, depending on the thing. To crave money, sex, adrenaline, fame, power, puts a person in a dangerous place. But to crave anointing, the peace of God, spiritual gifts, being used by the Almighty, is a wonderful place to be. I believe every Christian has a longing deep inside for spiritual things. The essential question then is, how powerful is that longing?
Paul said in Philippians 2:14, “I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” In 1 Corinthians 9:19-24, Paul wanted to “win” six times in six verses.
God is creating an army, not making beds for sleepy saints. What do you really want from God? Fan that flame! Allow the Holy Spirit to blow on those embers! Do not shrink back from whatever demands your calling requires of you. Be diligent to see the completion of what you were created to be. Run for that prize. Focus on the blessing He has in your tomorrows.
