I Doubt It Again

No Doubt About It 2

James 1:5 Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God — who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly — and it will be given to him. [In the next verse James goes on to describe how to receive this wisdom.] 6 But let him ask in faith without doubting. [Here he describes the life of the doubter.] For the doubter is like the surging sea, driven and tossed by the wind. [Here is the conclusion of the life of the doubter.] 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord, [the reason is] 8 being double-minded and unstable in all his ways.

These verses reveal a vital key to operating in victory in the Kingdom of God, in any area of our lives.

This Greek word, “doubt”, means to analyze, evaluate, judge or dispute. If you are in that wobbly state of not being sure if God will keep His promises, you are exactly what James describes as a wave driven and tossed by the wind. Unless we can definitively settle the question of God’s faithfulness, we cannot go any further in our spiritual life. James says you “should not expect to receive anything from the Lord”. WOW! That is scary!

Doubts cause you to be double-minded. You have been given great promises, but James says you will receive none of them!

As you trust the truth of the Word of God, you will have to fight the World, and your brain, that is deeply entrenched in denial of that truth. It will be a fight, but it is a winnable one.

When you can affirm God, His Word, and His promises are true, then you are on a wonderful path that brings heaven’s transcendence into this world. You will experience a glorious opportunity to walk in the Spirit. But this requires you to stop your judgement of the truth of God’s Word. You cannot resist God and His Word and expect to get His blessings.
