I Doubt It

What is doubt? Doubt is not the opposite of faith. Doubt is the antagonist of faith. In Matthew 21:21 Jesus told His disciples,

“Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “if you have faith and do not doubt, not only will you do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen”

This Greek word, “doubt” means to analyze, evaluate, judge or dispute. Unfortunately, our practice is, when we are reminded of any of the hundreds of promises given to us by God, we argue against them. We doubt. We seem to spend more time rationalizing why those blessings will not happen that we do being thankful for our coming blessings promised to us. No sooner do we get some encouragement or hope for favor and breakthrough, we immediately line up the reasons why those good things will not come to us.

At this point we have a question to answer, and it is not an easy one. The question is, do we believe what the Bible says, or do we first force our judgement on what it says? Because doubting is judging and arguing against the Bible and the promises written in it. James 4:11 says that if you judge the scriptures, then you are not keeping them but are judging them.

God’s way is better than ours. We need to sacrifice our thoughts to His.
Allow the Word of God to be the Truth in your reasoning!

Blessings,
Pastor Eric
