EVERY Blessing

Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenlies in Christ.

We all believe that there is existence outside of the physical realm; a reality outside of our 5 senses. It includes Heaven, but not exclusively. There are very dark and ominous places in this realm. This realm defies our “concrete” understanding or perception of truth. Most people afraid of it. It is outside of our normal environment. Many people try to suppress their interaction of this realm, thinking they will be okay. They can put handles on their current reality to mentally/emotionally make it through the day. But no one can do that forever. The heavenly world is intricately woven into this physical world and it demands to be recognized.

If we begin to open that window and look into this realm, it gets extremely scary because of the vastness of its expanse. It is also scary because we realize how few tools we have to grapple with this realm. We think about the spirits, demons, and places of dark chaos.

But “in Christ”, these heavenlies contain blessings. “Blessing” – the root is “logos” or “word”, means to commend, praise, consecrate, or fullness.

2 Corinthians 9:6, whosoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, but whosoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. (Blessing)

Ephesians 1:3 uses the word blessing three times, as an adjective, a verb, and a noun.

Note: In Western thought, the purpose of words is only to convey a thought or message — In the heavenlies words have substance, innate power. In Genesis, God spoke, and all life came into existence.

How is it possible we are blessed with every spiritual blessing? We don’t feel it or see it. Our problem is we are not appropriating those blessings. We are not in faith, expecting them.

Who would we be if we really believed, and consequently lived like, everything necessary for us to become a powerful, life-transforming, demon humiliating, lover of people? Why are some blessed more than others? Some people align themselves “in Christ” to receive.

What an amazing promise! No wonder Paul starts with praise! What a great gift we have been given!

-Blessings.
