Skeet shooters are people that shoot clay discs out of the air with shotguns. The best skeet shooters will say, do not point your gun at the skeet, put your eyes on the target and the gun will follow. Whatever you set your eyes on, you will naturally follow.
Paul said in Philippians 3:17, “Brethren, join in following my example, and observe those who walk according to the pattern you have in us.”
It is essential for us to keep our eyes on good examples because what we watch, we follow.
Philippians 4:8; Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.
He immediately follows with;
9 The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
What we become is directly tied to the people we watch.
I hope you know that God has taught you invaluable lessons in your life! You have lessons that someone needs. You have words that can bring healing and deliverance. God wants you to give things that He has given you, to those that need them.
Think of yourself as a container. God had deposited many things in all of us. We need to give things away, so we can make room for more of what God wants to put in. I think maybe the reason some of us do not receive from God is that our container is full already. How can we ask for more when we are already full? Many Christians are “spiritual hoarders”. They receive… and receive… and receive until there is no room for more.
So, today, first let’s re-evaluate who we put our eyes on and make sure that is the goal God wants for us.
Second, let us recognize and be the example that we are supposed to be.
Third, make room for more of Gods’ kingdom by giving away some of the things He has given, so there is room to receive new blessings from God.
